Description
Translated to Joy in Latin, meaning excitement, happiness, jubilance. The use of both warm and cool colours to create a contrast at the same time provoking a sense of theatrical drama. This piece was inspired by my interest for Afro-Latino history, how diverse it is because of its evolution, the language, food, music and dance. The patterns represent Africa, the feathers portray the distance travelled through slave trade to get there, and the ones lost along the way. There is beauty even in the struggle and because of that we are grateful for Gaudium.
